Buying a watch for $3000 – $10,000 dollars is easy.
If you are a Singaporean male the choice is even easier. You buy a Rolex Submariner. 🙂
What I often have a challenge is finding a “good watch” for less than $1000 or even $500. For me the choices in this price range was always either a Seiko or Tag Heuer.
Seiko’s are still great watches but Tag’s have become a little too pricey over the years and it seems to be the default, ‘high end’ watch for Australians. I just can’t seem to bring myself to pay more than $1000 for a Tag.
I was just reminded today when I was reading Watch Time of the Longines HydroConquest
Longines is an important brand in the Swatch Group, positioned in a price range below Omega and above Tissot. The 43-mm Longines HydroConquest according to Watch Time, is a true diving watch. The model to look for is the Automatic model that comes in either a blue or black bezel and dial.
The bracelet can be extended to wear over your diving suit, the bezel is unidirectional, and the crown is screw-down – features every divers’ watch should include.
They appear to retail a bit over $1,000 new and I have seen numerous BNIB or nearly new models for sale online for about $800.00
Certainly something to consider if you are comfortable with a 43mm watch and are looking for an “entry level” luxury watch.
The Longines brand and the look of this watch in particular is pretty decent but the watch is not too expensive that I would feel uncomfortable wearing it on a business trip overseas.
