Hamilton Khaki NAVY GMT

I was out shopping for a watch for XXXXXXX and was visiting one of my favourite pre-owned watch shops in Singapore – Tootokei in The Bencoleen.

I have known the owner for years and bought one of my favourite

watches from him – a Sandoz Submariner – for about $165, years ago. I have also sold or bought a few other watches from him over the years and have always gotten an honest and fair deal.

He had the usual Rolex’s, Tag’s, Omega’s and IWC’s on display but I was looking for something a lot cheaper but with an Automatic movement that was fairly robust. I have been looking at Hamilton’s on ebay and online watch sites for weeks as I thought they fit the bill nicely i.e. good quality watch, stylish, robust and with an Automatic movement.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that he had this Hamilton Khaki Navy  GMT displayed discreetly on a shelf in the back of his shop. It had been put on consignment sale early this month for $390. It was more than I wanted to pay for it and so after some good natured haggling I managed to get the price reduced to what I was willing to pay.

It came with full set of box and papers and the original unused stainless steel bracelet as the previous owner removed it and used a high-quality black leather strap (which I have replaced with a similar one).

Just like my post about my son’s Luminox a few minutes ago, whethere pre-owned or brand new, there are some great bargains out there if you ware willing to take the time and know where to look.

Here’s some information on what I think is a great watch:

  1. Hi Ray, nice review u got here. i really enjoy reading it. I’m thinking of getting a Hamilton Navy GMT in Singapore as well. Is there any store u would recommend for me to find one with a good price ? either new or used will be just fine for me. Thanks.

    • Sorry that my response has been a bit slow

Been travelling in the region with my boss. 4 countries in 6 days plus another few days in Shanghai and Singapore.

There are not that many people selling previosuly owned Hamilton’s in Singapore at the moment as the brand is not that popular so there isn’t a very large aftermarket.

If I am looking at getting a new Hamilton, I would go to Watches of Switzerland at Vivo City and look for Momo. She should be able to cut you a good deal – especially if you mention that you referred to by me.

I hope this helps and if you have any more questions, please let me know.
