SANDOZ SUBMARINER parts or project watch looking for a new home. Readers will know that I love Sandoz watches. This is a watch that was used as a parts watch for other projects. It is a complete watch and my estimate to get it up and running in perfect working condition would be less than $50.00. The challenge though is that the watch is not worth a lot more than that. If you are interested in restoring the watch or if are looking for a project ETA movement to hone your skills on, Read More
We posted a few days ago that we had a Ladies Omega for sale. It was snapped up on ebay within hours so we promised that we would have another ladies classic available to anyone who is interested We now have a classic ladies Longines watch in very good condition available. It has also been put up for sale at ebay. This is from my personal collection and it is currently being timed for accuracy and will be given a basic polish and clean before handing over so that buyers get a well presented timepiece that keeps good time and Read More
We have this manual wind ladies Omega DeVille that is looking for a new home. The DeVille line was introduced in the 1960’s or thereabouts and was relaunched in 1999. The case has had a polish and so has the crystal as both showed signs of daily wear when we got it. We had the movement removed and checked and it is running strong. By our assessment it does not need a service as it keeps good time and runs for close to 36 hours before stopping. Dimensions: 16 X 21 mm with 13 mm lugs Great daily wear timepiece Read More
Another watch up for sale is a vintage Omega Sea Master Cosmic 2000,Cal 1012. Recently serviced and with a brand new crystal, this watch presents well and unlike many vintage watches, can be worn daily as it has a strong movement with a case and bracelet that is still in pretty good condition. The all stainless, 38 mm case and signed Omega bracelet presents well with no dings or dents. Bracelet has very little stretch or sagging and a signed Omega clasp. Dial is all original, with raised steel hour markers, and matching steel hands, the movement is an Omega Read More
We were in the Bahamas recently and at the Atlantis. Like with most casinos around the world there were a number of premium shops within a stone’s throw throughout the complex – and naturally there were a few watch shops as well. One of the watches that caught my eye in one of the shops was this Historiador. It was selling for $2700. This was definitely more than I was willing to spend on what I thought was a new fashion brand. Dianah, the sales lady was very helpful and gave an 84 page brochure to take back with me Read More
The original Pronto watch company was established in the famous Jahre region of Switzerland in 1890. It was one of the Swiss brands that could not recover from the Quartz watch onslaught in the 70’s and finally ceased operations in 2000 when it was sold to Stelux Holdings. Stelux is a Hong Kong based company and also owns the Universal Geneve, Cyma and Solvil et Titus brands and either have the same ownership or a close business tie-up with the City Chain group who carry these brands in their outlets. These brands may still have similar Quality and build as Read More
Heard about this shop years ago and had the chance to visit them when I was in Kuantan earlier this week. Met Michael and he was an excellent person to talk to. He took the time to show us the previously owned watches he had in stock and also the new watches on sale. Prices on the 2nd hand stuff was quite fair but unfortunately we could not close the deal on the Tissot Touch and Seiko F1 he had. Definitely worth visiting if you are ever in Kuantan.
Have been given the chance to get my hands on a Timewalker 105813 like the one pictured here. This piqued my interest to find out a little bit more about the type of movements Mont Blanc is now using in it’s watches as ETA movements are getting hard to buy, if you are not part of the Swatch Group. I also remembered that Mont Blanc had acquired a small Swiss watch manufacturer a few years ago and thought maybe the Time Walker was using a movement from this company. In 2006 the Richemont Group, the owners of Mont Blanc, bought Read More
The wife suggested we start this blog a couple of years ago and I just realised that we are now 2 years old! Thanks for reading this blog and PLEASE KEEP THOSE QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS COMING!
Met Nicholas in Kuala Lumpur recently and I noticed almost immediately that he appeared to be wearing a vintage watch. I was not 100% sure as there are a lot of newer watches these days that look vintage. Also, Nicholas is in his mid 20’s and the trend today is to wear bigger or chunkier watches. When I asked Nicholas about it, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was indeed a vintage Omega from the 60’s. We have exchanged a couple of emails since then and he has pointed me to where he bought his watch – www.classicwristwatches.com. I Read More
